The Plan: A Guitar and Music Themed Nursery

For the past week and a half I’m been in full on nursery planning mode. First step was cleaning out the soon-to-be nursery of guest bed and office/music stuff.

A good friend took the bed, and then we shuffled around everything else. I was quite surprised to find that I could find space of all of stuff that was in that room. The closet in our master is now Garrett’s music closet and found homes for our two book cases. Baskets and space bags have become my new best friends as I attempt to find places for everything all while making it look somewhat nice.

After the bed was out it was time to change out the garnet and khaki walls. Over the past week we’ve primed and painted walls, painted trim and scrubbed the floors and the windows. The soon-to-be nursery is officially the cleanest room in house.

So what’s the nursery going to look like? Well we’ve decided to go for a modern music them. It all started with the idea that it would be cool to frame our favorite albums and make a really cool music collection, similar to this:

Next we still needed room for our family’s extensive guitar collection (one of them is really mine), so we figured with a music theme the guitars could stay right where they already were in the room.

Now when you think music theme, I don’t want you to think music notes all over the ways and cutesy music bedding, not my style at all. I’m going for more of an eclectic style, similar to these rooms:

I plan on making my own bedding and such, which I’m pretty excited about. These are the fabrics I’m leaning towards right now:

Also, I have already purchased a rug, which should be here in the next week or so. I think everything will come together with the light gray color walls that are all painted.

It’s all really starting to come together. This weekend we’re going to IKEA to purchase the crib, chair and wardrobe. We’ve already have an IKEA dresser (in white) that I scored off Craisglist a few weeks back. I’m really excited to see the room all put together.
